A pivotal pledge to save and restore our planet\u2019s forests<\/strong> was officially announced on the second day of the COP26 World Leaders Summit<\/strong> in Glasgow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With that deal<\/strong> came a long list of commitments<\/strong> from public and private sector actors to combat climate change<\/strong>, curb biodiversity destruction and hunger, and to protect indigenous peoples\u2019 rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A film narrated by Sir David Attenborough<\/strong> played on the screens at the COP26:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBy destroying forests, we are harming biodiversity and our lives<\/strong>\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Forests provide fresh water, clean the air we breathe, inspire spiritual value, and provide us with food<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our challenge now must be to halt deforestation and beginning to restore forests<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It is a huge undertaking, and every country will need their own table approach.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n United Kingdom<\/a> Prime Minister Boris Johnson <\/strong>came to the podium to announce that at least 110 countries representing 85 per cent of the planet\u2019s forests had signed the pivotal COP26 Glasgow Leaders Declaration on Forests and Land Use<\/a><\/strong>, committing to halt and reverse deforestation by 2030<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cProtecting our forest is not only a course of action for tackling climate change but also for a more prosperous future<\/strong>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Boris Johnson<\/strong> highlighted that China<\/a><\/strong>, Russia<\/a><\/strong> and Brazil<\/a><\/strong> have also joined the promise, which he believed could be also a \u2018parallel\u2019 opportunity for job creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and well as Brazil\u2019s, Jair Bolsonaro, appeared in a pre-recorded message supporting the pledge<\/strong>, among other leaders absent from the COP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSigning the Declaration is the easy part.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n It is essential that it is implemented now for people and the planet<\/strong>,\u201d UN chief Ant\u00f3nio Guterres <\/strong>urged on his official twitter account, according UN News<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Join the World Government Movement if you believe that we can create a Heaven on Earth if we work together.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Register an account for FREE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
